Architecture
Aun
Qurashi is a
chartered architect.
He has over
thirty years’ experience as principal of his own private practice. This incorporates
a ten-year period during which he also acted client-side for local authority, managing
the design and delivery of major public-sector projects.
Aun has specialised in educational projects (nursery,
primary and secondary schools - both mainstream and SEND); community projects
(places of worship and local area regeneration); social care projects (homes
for looked-after children and vulnerable adults); and environmentally sensitive
projects (simple, low-tech self-build). His other areas of experience include
domestic works; private houses & residential; masterplanning & urban
design; historic/listed buildings; sport & leisure; office & media; and
restaurants/social & retail. He has occasionally taken on the role of main
contractor for domestic projects - directly managing and supervising trades on
construction sites as well as being ‘on the tools’ himself.
As a sole principal and director, Aun has considerable
experience in practice management and administration, providing the basis for successful
delivery of challenging schemes through bringing together and overseeing multi-disciplinary
consultant teams. These teams include other architects, cost consultants, project
managers, engineers (civil, structural and M&E), specialists, surveyors, and
contract administrators - and he leads constructive engagement with statutory and
non-statutory stakeholders during the process to ensure unhindered progress to
completion.
With the benefit of his broad architectural background,
Aun’s preferred role has evolved in recent years to focus on architectural
consultancy. He is a trusted first-point-of-contact and project adviser to
private and corporate clients, helping to navigate the increasingly complex landscape
of architectural design, management and construction.
